This talk will focus on an interesting finding using the masked priming paradigm where Chinese-English bilingual speakers show a pattern of processing that is absent for native English speakers. The reason for this difference will be explored and, in so doing, conclusions will be drawn with regard to the cognitive mechanisms underlying non-native word recognition in reading.
